Even though Quintana Roo has many archeological sites (and it’s different for that reason) it also has cultural and artistical heritage which can be tangible or intangibles.
Later on, we will see this.Even though Quintana Roo has many archeological sites (and it’s different for that reason) it also has cultural and artistical heritage which can be tangible or intangibles.
The Mayan Pax music comes to the center of
Quintana Roo and is now considered a “cultural intangible heritage”. As we know
our beloved state has a legacy of a very important culture: the maya. That’s
why the mayan pax music is a gift from our ancestors, music full of melodies that
reflects this culture and have influence on us.
The guaranducha of Cozumel .
“The guaranducha is a threatrical – music
representation with a satirical, humorous, funny character; where the caracters
represent a comedy where there’s a parody about black and white people's customs ( “El mayoral”, the judge, the hunter, la Monina, la Negrita, Candemo, el
Burrutaco y María Rosario) or to understand it better, the way the owner treats
the slave. This expression we can find this expression in the beautiful Cozumel .
Generally we can find this expression in the
carnivals and is important to continue preserving this, since it is a sign of
the cultural identity of Cozumeleños.
Dance of the pighead “OK OSTA POL KE K’EN”
“The dance of the pighead is a lucid dance with
a funny and satirical aspect and it’s performed in front of the village's church during the patriotic celebrations. A show that in the older times was
used as a sacrifice offered to the Mayans god and nowadays to make reverence to people
of a high religious level, this is characterized by somebody carrying the “head
of the pig” accompanied with well-dressed woman and young men in local suits.
The dance of the chicleros.
In this dance, you can see the characteristic
form of chicleros having fun, rude men, a little unsociable who work in the
jungle in the fields, in the process of cutting, collecting, and
packing the resin of the tree called “Chicozapote” ( makira zapota)
A dance that is a lof of fun, where the
chiclero danced with only one woman and even in occasions there was “a duel of
machetes”
Jarana of Quintana Roo
Jarana is a regional folk musical style that comes from the fusion
of the native, religious and profane elements, besides, it is an agil and elegant tapdance
product of a mixture of these "sones"(musical verses or lines) , with the invasión of this big Cánova andaluz (spanish sculpture) without leaving out the valseado emphasis on the
aragonesa (from Aragon region in Spain) "jota" (in english letter "j" -- jei).
Sambay macho.
This is a dance which is a legacy from the
prehispanic cultures, it is characterized by an exhibit representation of a male dragonfly's flight when it wants to court the female.
Dance of one's foot.
It’s a dance of a couple where the only
physical contact is to touch each others' hands.
Choreographically
you draw lines of geometric figures and arches, preferable in front of the
public. It consists on alternative spins held by the points of the feet, a
sequence that ends in a complete bump with the sounds of the feet.
This is the mural “Form, color and history” that is located in the lobby
of Quintana Roo's Congress in Chetumal, the mural includes images that
represents the history from the arrival of the spanish citizen to this state,
to the condition received not long ago as a free and sovereign citizen.
It’s found to be a candidate among the 10 universal pictures of Mexico
The mosaic mural of the mayan culture was made
by Marcelo Jiménez Santos and is a synthesis of all our historic origin and the
cultural richness that is part of Quintana Roo’s lands. It’s located at the
international business and convention centre of Chetumal.
is a sculpture of Gonzalo Guerrero, it is a representation of the
crossbreeding which ocurred when he arrived in Quintana Roo and who ended up marrying Zazil Há, you can observe his three children, who were
considered “The cosmic race"
In Fact our art arrived at other places, in
this image Gabriela Losekrug Moller, delegate of the german parlament, received
a donation of an art work by the painter Hipolito Uicab Garcia Gabriel, this
shows us that Quintana Roo’s art can go further, inspite of being a
relatively young state.
